Aspects of Parallel Computation for the Simulation of High Intensity Beams in Hadron Rings.
Abstract
A PIC code to simulate high intensity beams in hadron circular accelerators, BNL-Orbit, has been implemented on parallel computers. The issues of full 6-dimensional tracking and the relevant approximations are discussed, as well as parallel solvers for the space charge problem in the presence of walls. Examples of application to existing accelerators, the AGS at BNL and the SIS at GSI-Darmstadt are presented.
